My last tub mat was made of some kind of rubber or plastic type stuff that had round holes in it; it was not soft and got really "gunked " up fast and mildew stuff formed under it and in those "holes" and it was nasty.I definitely didn't want another one of those! I also didn't want one that was as long in length as that last one either. Because if I wanted to hang it over the curtain rod or tub side it was long and cumbersome and pretty much kept me from picking it up and drying it in between uses.I decided to try this mat because it's made if silicone, is the right size and doesn't have holes in it as part of it's design. And at apprx $9 it's also an excellent value!I chose the blue one which is an excellent match to several of my accessory items which are a deep turquoise blue color. Yay! And it looks very nice.This mat is very comfortable for sitting on taking a bath and also for standing in shower. When it first came I put just a little water in the tub and then placed the mat where I wanted it, and then applied pressure with my foot to make the suction cups stuck down. My tub has a smooth surface and this mat stuck down perfectly! It doesn't slip around at all during showers OR baths. So, yes it's definitely very safe and keeps me from slipping in the tub!And I already tried picking it up to dry over the tub side... easy peasy. I doubt it even needs to be dried between uses because silicone is so much better than that other stuff. Probably much more resistant to mildew. We'll see.I recommend this tub mat! I'll surely buy another one for my other bathtub.
